VISIT MARSEILLE'S OLDEST SOAP FACTORY
In this authentic building with big stone cauldrons, steam pressure … the saponification is in process.
Created since 1856 in the city centre of Marseille, Fer à Cheval is nowadays one of the last soap factory to perpetuate the city’s tradition.
Unlike industry giants’ products, the original Marseille soap need special attention… .Our Master soapmakers take care of the soap paste: every bubble, every smell, every sound has a special meaning that they are the only one to understand.
The whole soap factory’s know-how lies on the shoulders of our Master soapmakers who passed down their secrets from generation to generation.
Here, man’s work makes the difference.

For safety reasons, visits are limited to 20 people and not recommended for children under 10. Children must be under the whole responsibility of the accompanying adults
The cauldrons room in on the second floor therefore a part of the tour is unaccessible to people with reduced mobility.

HOW TO COME TO OUR SOAP FACTORY
Fer à Cheval soap factory is 15 min away from Vieux Port and Saint Charles Station, and 5 mn away from A7 exit 35.
If you take the bus, Bus 31 and bus 33 will take you directly to Fer à Cheval. Get off at Saint Marthe La bougie bus stop.
